Taste Sopron's Famous 'Kékfrankos' and Badacsony's Delightful 'Szürkebarát'......................... $925 (exclusive of airfare).
Day 1: Arrival at Sopron on the western border. Greetings from your hosts, followed by a short walk and a special surprise. Dinner at a cosy restaurant with a unique atmosphere, with meal cooked by a Hungarian Master Chef. Presentation of the wine-district of Sopron with "tastings" of the harvest specialties. Day 2: A walk through the medieval downtown area of Sopron. Visit to a cellar - the home of the 'Kékfrankos'. Nagycenk Castle Museum where you will "meet" Count István Széchenyi (1792-1861), the "greatest" of all Hungarians. Lunch. Visit Lake Fertö, one of the old boundaries between 'East' and 'West'. Boat trip on the lake with a glass of wine or champagne in hand. Dinner with regional delicacies and specialities. Enjoy an after-dinner Performance at Fertörákos' ancient stone quarry or on stage at Mörbisch. Night stop in one of Sopron's quaint hotels. Day 3: Travel 100 km to Pannonhalma , an ancient Benedictine monastery and the 1,000 year old cradle of Hungarian Christian Culture. Lunch - tasting the wines of Pannonhalma, Neszmély and Mór. Travel to Tihany, Lake Balaton's most scenic town (120 km), via the Bakony hills and the city of Csopak. Stop at Csopak and visit a famous family wine-cellar. Night stop and dinner on the shores of Lake Balaton.
Day 5: Martonvásár where Beethoven used to take walks and find inspiration for his musical masterpieces. Attend a concert on the island in the park of the castle (refreshments included). Budapest - arrive at this exciting metropolis, a city filled with historic beauty, a unique culture, and quaint traditions. Lunch at a unique location especially chosen by your hosts. Relax at the hotel. Sight-seeing in the afternoon includes a short stop at a typical wine-tavern. Dinner and introduction to the wines of the remaining wine-districts. Danube Legend - boat trip in the evening along the beautiful banks of the Danube (champagne included). Day 6: Budapest. Visit to the Market Hall. Bathe in the capital's most elegant baths at the Gellért Hotel. Lunch in a garden restaurant. Free time in the downtown area. Concert at the former studio and present day gallery of the famous Hungarian painter, Molnár-C. Pál (1894-1981). Farewell dinner and a visit to a medieval champagne cellar. Presentation of Hungary's king wines. Day 7: Departure
